The students will be in a group of 3 or 4 students in a World History Class. Each group will take on an aspect of the Holocaust to write a report for the TIME magazine. The reports will cover the survivors of the Holocaust, Hitler and his role in the Holocaust, the political aspects, and over the concentration/death camps.
This will be a fairly easy assignment to facilitate. The teacher will be there to answer basic questions and help the students find appropriate resources. The assignment will take place mostly in class through provided research and group work time. Minimal research must be completed outside of class as well.
1. First students will be placed into groups of four.
2. Then groups will draw at random which task they are going to report on.
3. Once students get a task, they will use the path finder with primary sources to do research on your topic.
4. Next, each team will come up with a way to report the material. (This will most likely include writing an article but they can also feel free to make it their own with pictures or illustrations, etc.)
5. After they have completed their report, they will present it to the class. This will occur not just through reading their article out loud, but through some sort of other visual aid describing their background knowledge and process.
